HOLLINS TROPHY

Friday 10th June to Monday 13th June

Acknowledgment of Country

The Sydney Figure Skating Club respectfully acknowledges the Darug and Eora people who are the Traditional Custodians of the land on which this Event takes place.  We pay our respect to Elders past, present and emerging. I also acknowledge and pay my respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people joining us today.

From the President

Welcome to Sydney Figure Skating Club’s 53rd combined Hollins Trophy, Co-operative Cup, Carr’s Cup and Dance Cup competition (Hollins), at Canterbury Olympic Ice Rink.

We are excited to see Hollins return to the traditional four-day competition, following two difficult years as our country responded to the COVID-19 pandemic (COVID-19).  Whilst it seems that COVID-19 is here to stay, importantly so is skating at both the local and elite international levels.  Hollins is a wonderful opportunity for our skaters to compete at our home rink against local, national and international skaters.

This year we look forward to welcoming international skaters from Singapore and Finland as well as those skaters closer to home from Sydney, regional New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia.  It is a privilege to watch you compete, whether you are competing for the first time or the tenth time.  We are delighted that our Adult skaters have cemented their regular place at our competition.

In celebrating the achievement of all skaters competing at Hollins, it is only appropriate to acknowledge the efforts of the coaches, families and friends in supporting these skaters. Thanks must be given as well to the volunteers whose tireless efforts have made hosting Hollins possible – NSWISA 2022 officials, our volunteers and Committee members.

In keeping with the Hollins ideal of celebrating all high-level skaters who dedicate themselves to their craft, we warmly welcome our much loved Sydney Figure Skating Club inclusive skater member, William Urquhart, to assist us in opening our competition. William received two gold medals at the ISU Inclusive Skating Virtual Worlds 2021 Skating Championship.

Finally, to all of our skaters, good luck and we look forward to seeing you next year at our inaugural ISU Hollins Trophy International Competition 9-12 June 2023!
